The mission of the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency is to create livable neighborhoods, provide quality housing, and strengthen the economy. The Agency is responsible for the Merged Redevelopment Project Area, which makes up a total of 4,967 acres within the City of Anaheim.
The Agency initiates development and public improvement projects, manages community-based programs and acquires property to increase economic vitality of the Merged Project Area. In fiscal year ending 2009, the tax increment from all project areas exceeded $41,420,938.
The Agency provides direct financial assistance to improve, preserve, and expand the supply of affordable housing in the City. The Agency’s goal is to construct 1,338 units of new affordable rental housing. Through fiscal year 2009, there were 523 units completed, 146 under construction, and 184 under contract. The Agency is also involved in for-sale development, including 44 affordable units within the Colony Park development. In fiscal year 2009, 2,351 units were monitored for compliance with affordability standards.
