The Covina Redevelopment Agency is aggressively addressing the diverse nature of the community in its efforts to alleviate the effects of blight and dilapidation, faulty planning and the under-utilization of land. Currently, the Agency is expanding its economic base by assisting with the development and expansion of retail businesses providing housing/rehabilitation opportunities for lower income, elderly and handicapped residents and the homeless, encouraging economic vitality through shopping center development, and establishing a means of implementing adopted community goals. In addition, the Downtown Revitalization Project is commencing with its first phase, which focuses on transit oriented development. The work program for the Agency focuses on three broad objectives: (1) work to eliminate blight; (2) provide required qualifying housing related activity; and (3) encourage economic development in the community.
City of Covina has been a member of the California Redevelopment Association since 1990.
