San Francisco, CA Office Development - Public Buildings/Facilities Development: City and County of San Francisco Successor Agency
The San Francisco Redevelopment Agency’s portfolio presents a microcosm of urban planning and development challenges facing many American cities: the environmental remediation and conversion of obsolete military bases into viable urban neighborhoods; the development of regional multi-model transit infrastructure and surrounding transit-oriented development; and the development of housing and related social infrastructure, particularly for low- and moderate- income households and for those with special needs such as seniors, persons with disabilities, and the homeless. The Agency currently has jurisdiction over twelve distinct project areas at different stages of implementation - from those just beginning revitalization to those completing a forty-year cycle.
In recent years, the Agency has emphasized affordable housing development devoting 50 percent of tax increment to this effort, adopted plans for Mission Bay and the Hunters Point Shipyard, redefined redevelopment initiatives in the downtown areas, substantially completed older redevelopment project areas in the Yerba Buena and Western Addition areas, and undertaken an ambitious planning effort with the community in the Bayview Hunters Point, Mid-Market and Transbay areas.
City and County of San Francisco Successor Agency has been a member of the California Redevelopment Association since
1990.
