Woodland, CA Programs - Joint City-County Project: Woodland Redevelopment Agency
The Woodland Redevelopment project area is about 621 areas encircling the downtown core, generating a little over $1 million in tax increment annually. Agency’s primary focus is to preserve and revitalize its historic downtown core which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Agency funds have been used for the rehabilitation of this historic Hotel Woodland, the construction of the East Street Streetscape project, and construction of the 45,000 square foot Woodland Corporate Center. The Agency is also encouraging development of new residential units downtown, mixed-use projects, and new entertainment venues. The Agency recently released an RFP for a new multi-plex theater development. Smaller commercial building projects receive financial assistance through the Agency’s façade grant program, including the Capital Saloon and Porter Building which is opening with a new vocational school at Cambridge Community College. Approximately 300 students will be at the school site every day. The highest priority project currently is the consolidation and expansion of a new county court facility. The Agency’s ability to assembly and acquire parcels of the court and finance the construction of the garage was key to the state’s decision to locate the faculty in Woodland rather than elsewhere in the County.
Woodland Redevelopment Agency has been a member of the California Redevelopment Association since
1990.
