The Glendale Redevelopment Agency was created in 1972 for the purpose of improving, upgrading and revitalizing areas within the downtown that had become blighted because of deterioration, disuse, and unproductive economic conditions. We have two project areas: 1) Central Glendale Project Area (Commercial/Office/Retail Projects/Entertainment) - This project area encompasses 263 acres in the heart of the City. 2) San Fernando Road Corridor Project Area (Commercial/Office/Retail Projects) - This project area includes approximately 750 acres of land and includes most of Glendale’s industrial zoned properties. Glendale is committed to promoting and assisting in the success of our businesses. To achieve this goal, the City has developed a plan to promote, assist, retain and attract quality business in Glendale. Our programs assist businesses both large and small: » Competitive Cost of Doing Business » Business Assistance » Permit Service Center » Utility Consultation » Redevelopment Agency Assistance » Façade Improvement Program Its mission is to enhance and improve the quality of life and to promote positive growth in the City of Glendale. This will be accomplished by facilitating retail, cultural arts, housing, and office projects, providing tax revenue and jobs that benefit all of the City’s residents.
City of Glendale has been a member of the California Redevelopment Association since 1990.
