Atwater, CA Retail Development - Big Box: City of Atwater
The Atwater Redevelopment Agency operates under a single project area – the Downtown Project area which includes the city’s central business district, adjacent residential neighborhoods, and south of the CBD located on the opposite side of Highway 99 a mixed use retail – office business park – Applegate Business Park and a manufacturing area – Atwater Business Park. The Agency recently completed the competitive sale of bonds to help implement many of the projects in our implementation plan. Atwater is strategically located in the Central Valley and is an emerging market for new retail development. Regency Centers has recently broken ground on the Applegate Ranch Shopping Center, or which approximately half is within the project area. This center will include Super Target and Home Depot. Over the next few years, the agency will focus on improving the entrances into the city and the CBD, providing affordable housing, and working on key infrastructure including an upgrade and expansion to the waste water treatment plan and the Highway 99 Applegate Interchange.
