| Duties: | Located in a picturesque valley 35 miles north of Los Angeles, Santa Clarita is confident in its growing role as a first choice community for raising families and building businesses. The Community Development Director (CDD) reports directly to the City Manager and oversees a department with a budget of approximately $10.9M and includes a full-time staff of 40 assigned to the areas of Planning, Community Preservation, Housing, Redevelopment and Economic Development. The CDD plays an important role as a key member of the executive team, providing guidance and input on a number of citywide issues.
The ideal candidate will possess the highest level of ethics and integrity, be non-bureaucratic, and have a record of performance that demonstrates vision, innovation and creativity. The successful candidate will possess the equivalent of six years of increasingly responsible experience in urban or regional planning, economic development and/or redevelopment, including at least two years in a supervisory or management capacity, and a Bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning, civil engineering, public administration or related field. Planning experience, a Master’s degree and certification as an AICP are highly desirable. The salary is $142,212 to $172,860 annually, DOQ. |
