Over the past year it has become apparent that the winding down of redevelopment is complicated, confusing, and frustrating.  As a result, there continues to be a need to provide post-redevelopment education for successor agencies, cities and counties and to disseminate information at a level of detail sufficient to assist in effectively administering post-redevelopment activities.  There is also a need for cities and counties to develop a network for public officials and practitioners to share information and meet and discuss the in’s and out’s of working with the State Department of Finance, County Auditor Controllers, and Oversight Boards.  Renewing your CRA membership will allow you and your organization the opportunity to network with colleagues, practitioners, and public officials in continuing your transition in the post-redevelopment environment.

To better serve your organization, CRA will continue in its role in providing professional development, technical assistance, and public information programs that focus on post-redevelopment and local economic development activities.  And while CRA’s mission has changed, our commitment and dedication to our members have not.

We begin with a new tag line that meets the mission of the organization—“Serving Successor Agencies of California.”  CRA will provide successor agencies, as well as cities and counties, with up-to-date post-redevelopment information.  We will continue conducting webinars and workshops on topics such as best practices related to dissolution.  Featured topics in the coming months will include updates from the Department of Finance on post-redevelopment legislation; problems facing bond issuance and complying with bond covenants; preparing a property management plan; the latest on the affordable housing front; and strategies for litigation.

As a member of CRA, your organization will receive a 30 percent discount on registration fees for webinars and workshops.  Having you and your staff attend a couple of these webinars and workshops at the reduced rate will almost pay for the renewal of your CRA membership.  Other services your organization will receive as a CRA members include:

  • Access to CRA’s website and membership directory, including online private sector services and contact information;
  • Eblasts, blogs and other social media on post-redevelopment legislations, deadlines, procedural changes, litigation activities and related matters;
  • An online forum that will coordinate, facilitate, and assist members with the post-redevelopment process;
  • Participation on the Brownfield and Post-Redevelopment Technical committees;
  • Access to online jobs available postings.
